The Mom Project is thrilled to share this exciting opportunity with a law firm seeking a Contract Attorney with minimum 10 years experience preferably in residential and/or commercial landlord-tenant law.

  • Status: Part-Time, 1099
  • 20 hrs per week
  • 100% Remote
  • Must be in good standings with California Bar
  • $130/hour
  • Minimum 10 yrs experience-residential and/or commercial landlord-tenant litigation
  • Travel Requirements: None

Authority

The contract attorney works under the authority and direction of the owner and

completes assignments in the time-frame set by the owner.

Responsibilities

Client-Focused Tasks

  • Empathetic engagement with clients to develop and maintain client

relationships with firm.

  • Maintaining client confidences as required by firm policies and rules of the

State Bar of California to ensure firm’s continuing compliance with its ethical

obligations to clients.

  • Direct client communications with clients to respond to discovery and

prepare pleadings on time and with excellent work product.

  • Document review, revision, and preparation with clients.
  • Develop legal strategies for client matters consistent with firm’s goals and

expectations to deliver high-quality and efficient legal services on every case.

Attorney-Focused Tasks

  • Drafting high-quality and error-free discovery, discovery responses,

pleadings, correspondence, and other case-related documents.

  • Review, edit, and revise Judicial Council forms as needed for each case.
  • Prepare clear case summaries of documents, discovery responses, and

deposition transcripts in a timely manner for use in development of client matters.

  • Thorough legal research to efficiently and effectively develop client

matters including but not limited to research into case law, statutes, local

municipal codes, practice guides, law review articles, as well as general online

research.

  • Meet with attorney on a semimonthly basis to discuss new client matters,

pending client matters, and upcoming hearings.

  • Communications necessary to matter, including but not limited to

communications by telephone and email with opposing counsel, co-counsel,

experts, court, court staff, and claims adjusters.

  • Use firm’s email and document management systems. Access

documents, create new documents, and save documents to firm’s document

management system.

Administrative Tasks

  • Report billable time in law firm time management system by the end of

each day.

  • Invoice owner semimonthly for work performed for firm.
  • Participate in trainings on law firm policies on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain own lawyer’s malpractice insurance throughout relationship with

firm and provide proof of same to owner.
