A partner of The Mom Project in the automotive industry is seeking a contract E-Learning Technical Instructional Systems Designer to help support their business needs.
The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of end-user training materials across a variety of formats. This role supports technical, business, and soft skills training, with a strong emphasis on automotive and manufacturing environments.
The ISD will collaborate with program managers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create engaging, effective training solutions that support new system implementations and process improvements.
Responsibilities
The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of end-user training materials across a variety of formats. This role supports technical, business, and soft skills training, with a strong emphasis on automotive and manufacturing environments.
The ISD will collaborate with program managers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create engaging, effective training solutions that support new system implementations and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop training programs using ADDIE and SAM instructional design methodologies
- Deliver training content across multiple formats, including instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, web-based, self-paced, video, podcasts, and job aids
- Create instructor guides, participant guides, technical manuals, and visual learning aids
- Partner with program managers to develop training plans and supporting materials
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to gather, validate, and refine technical content
- Support training setup, testing, and delivery in technical and virtual environments
- Analyze training needs and align learning solutions with business objectives
- Develop assessments and evaluation tools to measure training effectiveness
- Continuously improve courseware based on learner feedback and performance data
- Assist with the development of training promotional materials and communication plans
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Design Technology, or a related field
- Proven expertise in developing training across multiple delivery methods, including ILT, VILT, WBT, job aids, and blended learning
- Strong understanding and application of ADDIE and SAM instructional design models
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage global audiences and all levels of management
- Proficiency with instructional design and multimedia tools, including Articulate, Camtasia, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to work collaboratively with program managers and subject matter experts
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Portfolio demonstrating instructional design work, including ILT and WBT samples
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a closely related field
- 5 or more years of experience in course development, curriculum design, training, or e-learning
- Experience developing training for technical or manufacturing-focused audiences
- Familiarity with automotive industry environments or manufacturing processes
- Experience creating training promotional materials and communication plans using graphic design tools
- Monday - Friday, preferred worktime between 7 am and 5 pm, 40 hours/week
- Hybrid Role - Tues, Weds, Thurs in-office in Warren, MI
- Mon and Fri WFH
- Potential travel to MI plants.
